AURANGABAD: The city police in the early hours of Saturday arrested Shaikh Hafeez, the BJP district youth president of minorities cell, who is accused of attempt to murder.
He was on the run since Wednesday, when he allegedly made an attempt on the life of Sandeep Dahale, a resident of Vishnu Nagar. In this incident, even the accused sustained injuries including several stitches on his hand.
Jawahar Nagar police said that the suspect was on the run since the incident took place and efforts were on to nab him.
It was after the police pressurised the family, the suspect, who had fled to Vishakhapatnam, gave in and informed the police that he is reaching Pune, from where he would reach the city to surrender. However, not taking a chance, police rushed to Pune and nabbed the accused and brought him to the city. Police said that he would be produced before the court on Sunday for seeking his remand.
